This is my Grandpa Felt. These pictures were taken while we were on vacation this summer by my brother Michael. While we were visiting at Felt Farm my Mom brought out Grandpa's war helmet... which none of us had ever seen. Grandpa was serving in WWII and this helmet saved his life... not because it protected his head but because the chin strap was not buckled. As you can see in the pic the helmet is full of bullet holes. Had the chin strap been buckled, Grandpa wouldn't be with us today. The gun fire shot it clear off his head but he was fine. Grandpa did receive injuries in the war and a handful of metals, but is alive to tell his tale. I am very grateful for all the brave and selfless men and women that have, are and will serve our country to make sure we maintain our freedoms. They are all my heroes!

No more CRIB!
While we were on our trip at Lake Tahoe, Nathan would jump out of the pack-n-play and even napped most days on Kyler's bed. So I decided it was time take down his crib and put him in a toddler bed. The one problem was... I brought the bed upstairs on the 4th of July. While I was trying to get him to bed he kept on getting up because his room was lighting up with the fireworks and they were pretty loud. So by 10:45 I was done! I moved his mattress back in his crib (which I hadn't removed from his room) put him in and said good-night. The next day (which is pictured below) went much better. He is now napping and sleeping at night in his big boy bed. I admit it was a little heartbreaking removing the crib because I know it may never be put back up in my house again. Oh well at least Nathan is happy in his new bed.
Oh my, Kyler is 5
Ky blowing out his candle on his chocolate chip pancakes.
Present time! You may notice the all these kids were in the 4th of July pics too. Kyler was due on the 4th but came a couple of hours later. So his actual b-day is the 5th but it is a lot easier to celebrate on the 4th since most everyone has the day off.
Kyler got everything he asked for and then some. He got Hero factories, legos, movie, candy, and a kung zhu. (which is my new favorite way to have a pet, the kung zhu doesn't eat, shed, or poop!)
Ky asked for a hero factory cake. I couldn't figure out how to make one and he told me to just just make a cake and put hero factories by it. So this is my interpretation. I did the flag for two reasons 1: it was the 4th of july 2: it could represent our heroes that fight and protect our freedoms. All and all Kyler was happy with it especially since he had M&Ms and fruit by the foot on his cake.
There he is my big 5 year old. He will also be starting kindergarten next month which tugs at my heart even more.... where has the time gone?

Proud to be an American
Jared having firework safety 101 with the kiddos
This 4th of July we had family and close friends over for a BBQ. Afterwards I took the boys over to uncle Jared's house for some fireworks. Jon has to get up crazy early so he stayed home and tried to sleep (which didn't happen). Then I brought the kids back and put them to bed because they were so tired but I watched the city fireworks from my back porch. Over all a really fun day. (sorry the pics are out of order)

Lake Tahoe Trip
So a year ago my parents told us to mark our calenders for a Garbett reunion at Lake Tahoe. We packed the car and woke up bright and early (4 am) with the thought that the kids would go back to sleep. Boy were we wrong! The kids didn't go back to sleep and only took a little 30-45 min nap. By the time we past Reno Nathan was yelling at Jon saying 'stop car daddy, I done'. We rented a large cabin for all of us to stay in and it was perfect. There was a bedroom for each family which made bedtime a lot easier for the kids and still allowed us adults to stay up and visit at night.
On Sunday we attend sacrament meeting at a local church and then headed to Felt Farm to hang with more family. I got to see all four of my grandparents and my awesome aunt and uncle and their kids. The grandkids were so excited to see all the animals. unfortunately we were pretty busy chasing kids and trying to visit that we didn't get many pics of the animal. However there were 2 pigs, 2 pot belly pigs, tons of chickens and roosters, 3 horses, 1 pony, lots of cows and calves, a bunny, a few dogs, and 2 alpacas .
Our first pit stop was at a rest area so here we are at the salt flats.

We did some hiking while we there too. Here is Jon with Nathan on his shoulders
On Friday we were suppose to split into two groups and while the older grandkids went rafting the little ones were going to a local children museum. Do to the Truckee river being too full and too rapid they weren't letting anyone raft, so the older kids went to play miniature golf instead.Landon looking over the bridge on our hike.

I love this pic because Nathan is look at my dad through the little window and you can also see a little of the aquarium that made it feel like they were really under the water.
Kyler and Grant at the dinosaur mini golf course. Apparently Ky was so good that he got a whole in 1 on the next course. He was also standing a little too close while Grant was golfing and got a nice bruise on his cheekbone.
Sorry this one is out of order but at the museum we dressed the kids in sea related costumes. So here is Nathan as a shark.
Ky in the water at Lake Tahoe.
My parents even dove in the frigid water but we all had to promise that pics of them wouldn't show up on our blogs and facebook.

Since we couldn't go rafting because the river was too full and too rapid we rented a 4 man paddle boat. We took turns taking all the kids out and getting a little leg workout in the process.
