This past week Jon and I got to go on a little trip just the two of us. For Christmas last year (2011) my parents gave us a week of free babysitting so that we could go on a 'couples trip'. So I started to make a list of things to consider and of course I added places like Hawaii and a cruise. Well, we didn't exactly do either of those although there was plenty of water where we were. We decided to backpack into Grandaddy Lake. It has one huge lake and then about a dozen or so other lakes around it. I admit I was a little sceptical because I had never backpacked before and face it I'm not a huge wilderness buff. BUT it ended up being an amazing, peaceful, beautiful trip and YES I would do it again. So here are a few pics of our adventure. So if the pics aren't great, we took all pictures with our cell phones.
This sign was near the start of the trail head. It says High Uintas Wilderness, Ashley National Forest.
Jon leading the way. His packed ended up being about 45 lbs
Me with my trusty walking stick that Jon found on the side of the trail. My pack weighed about 35 lbs
We made it to the top of the trail before the long, steep decent and here is the view of Heart Lake

Our lovely base camp we set up. We camped between Betsy lake and Mohawk lake.
FISHING:
Of course we went fishing. Actually we went fishing a couple times each day.
Jon handed me his pole and told me to cast it out a couple of times while he went to find another good spot of fish. Well, I did as he said and ended up catching a fish. My mom said that I have the same expression on my face as when I went fishing with my dad when I was little.
My fish, and NO I didn't touch it.

On the second day we just wore our daypacks and went out hiking.
It's hard to see, but Jon is on top of the large rock.
One of the streams on our adventure.
Me on the boulder.
While we were still out on our hike it started to sprinkle a little, then it started to rain, then pour and then HAIL. Its August for crying out loud. By the time we made it back to camp it was still raining but had let up a little. The sun had come out for a little while so we hurried and made dinner and THEN...
IT HAILED AGAIN!!! Yep that white stuff is hail.
Jon sitting in the tent waiting for the hail to stop. Which it did, twenty minutes later it was sunny again.
I know this isn't a good picture but its the only one of the two of us together.
Beautiful Sunrise

Scenery
This is the view from our car when we started to drive back down the mountain. We figured that we ended up hiking about 22 miles in three days time. Not too shabby, huh.
After we hiked out we headed to Park City where our hotel was for the night. We ended up having some time to kill before our room was ready so we walked though the outlets and walked up and down Main street.
